Frequently Asked Questions
what’s the timeline for the egg donor process?
An average donor cycle takes about 3 months from the time of matching to the egg retrieval procedure. Timing is dependent on the clinic’s scheduling, availability, and protocol.
what clinics do you work with?
We have worked with over 150 clinics in the U.S. and Canada. We can coordinate a donor cycle with any facility that accepts third-party donors.
how do your contracts work?
In the U.S. contracts between Intended Parents and Donors are only required for known/open cycles when the donor is not anonymous. We require all intended parents to have an attorney-drafted and executed contract with their egg donor. We organize communication with all legal parties. Contracts must be signed before a donor can be issued a cycle calendar to begin medications.
how does the donor & matching process work?
“Proven” or Repeat Egg Donor cycle records may be provided to your medical provider or clinic for review prior to a match. “First Time” Egg Donor Testing (AMH Bloodwork) is available prior to Matching with no commitment. A “Match” begins when there is a mutual agreement between an Intended Parent and a Donor. A Match is finalized after signing an agency agreement and agency fee payment. Intended Parents will receive an invoice with a credit card and free ACH payment options.
DO you HAVE FROZEN EGGS OR ARE you A FROZEN EGG BANK?
No. Our database provides the profiles of women who are available for cycles specifically for you. We are not a cryobank, but we have many wonderful egg donors who are available to commit to a cycle at a local clinic to freeze their eggs in addition to those who can travel for a cycle. Ultimately, we organize a complete cycle on your behalf but the location can vary to accommodate specific needs. We do not have a frozen egg facility but we can accommodate your goals for parenthood in many ways. Intended parents are responsible for the clinic costs no matter where the cycle takes place.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A DONOR BACKS OUT OR GETS “COLD FEET?”
This is a very common and understandable fear. As a team of experienced donors and intended parents, we aim to screen for the characteristics and values we know are important for advancing through a cycle successfully. We require all donors to sign an agency agreement for your match, provide identification, complete a background check, and have a counseling meeting prior to collecting the intended parents’ agreement or payment. We have found these measures to deter donors that are not fully committed. In the unlikely event, a donor withdraws her agreement after having her first medical screening appointment to review the medical implications of a donor cycle we apply the agency fee payment towards another donor until one can move forward to complete a cycle. There are no fees for rematching if a donor withdraws or does not pass medical clearance.
do you offer refunds?
The first payment is non-refundable but can be applied to additional agency donors in the event a rematch is needed. There are no additional fees for needing to rematch with a different internal agency donor. For this reason, the second installment is collected only after your donor has been medically cleared by your doctor. The second payment is refundable if the donor does not begin a cycle.
DO I NEED TO COME TO YOUR AGENCY OFFICE?
Intended Parents do not need to physically visit our offices. All cycle coordination can be successfully organized remotely.
HOW MUCH CAN AN EGG DONOR CYCLE COST?
There are many variables that influence costs. A Match Coordinator can help you find donors to accommodate any budget. Traveling cycles will require travel and local testing costs, while a local donor will not have these expenses. A proven/repeat donor is more likely to request a higher donor fee than a First Time Donor. Intended parents should be prepared for the agency fee ($7,500), donor’s fee ($3,500-$10,000+), Legal fees ($800-$2,500), Donor Emergency Insurance ($380), Travel if required ($4,500-$5,500), and Local Monitoring/testing for traveling cycles ($1,000-$2,500). Medical and medication costs should be discussed with your clinic and medical provider. We have financial coaches available to provide one on one services for parents ready to start their journey.
how does escrow work?
Intended parents need to be prepared to fund escrow with the total expenses required for their cycle prior to any donor appointments or travel.
when do donors receive the fee?
Donors receive their donor fee upon completion of the retrieval and per your contract. Payments to donors cannot be based on the cycle outcome.
how does travel work?
When a donor is out of state the donor will have to make two trips to your clinic. Once for a one-day medical screening visit. Then again for 5-7 days for the retrieval week. On the second trip, the donor brings a companion for comfort and safety following the procedure.
how does local monitoring work?
Local monitoring includes the bloodwork and ultrasounds required during a cycle when a donor is not within driving distance to your clinic. We facilitate your doctor’s orders to be carried out by a local IVF clinic near the donor. The results are sent to your doctor the same day for interpretation and evaluation. Costs vary by location and services required by your clinic.
how does pretesting work?
Donors entering a match will have completed a testing kit from https://modernfertility.com/. These results are available for your clinic’s review. More extensive testing is collected at medical clearance in which a match will have to take place prior to completion.
